B. Experiences (make you wiser… Really?)

With each passing year, each hour, each moment… we experience so much. And then ‘Experience’ of having these experiences and accumulated experiences… I’m today talking about this accumulated Experience with a capital ‘E’.

With each experience we become wiser, more strong and emotionally more stable… As they say.

But is this accumulated Experience really good? Is becoming emotionally stable really good?

With each and every experience are we not slowly moving  away from our core and intense emotions… are we not becoming cold to our passions? For e.g. first encounter with actual death or terminal disease you witness… you are not able to sleep for days… then next… then next… and then yet another. And suddenly one day you realize that such things doesn’t affect you that much. You have become stone hearted. Then next thing that moves you is something happening to your very close family/friends… you again feel heightened emotions for some time… then next… then next… and we are emotionally cold again.

Another not so dramatic example… we are in early twenties and we believe that we can do almost everything in this world. We take up your job, hobbies and interests very passionately. We want to change the world. Then one year passes with some compromises… some routines… attending to some urgents somewhere. Then another year… then another year and slowly passions and dreams die to give way to so called reality and responsibilities (another socially acceptable excuse for procrastination). By the time we are in our thirties we have ‘E’xperienced so much that we would not even realize that we have become stoney, emotionless, lifeless. And we end up saying passion is for kids we have already so much else to look into. Really?

Why can’t we do something about it? How can we keep our passions alive?

Solution is simple. At least sounds simple. We need to unwind some experiences. Undo. Forget some of the things. Let go of the load we carry.

But how? Few ways – Speak out loud. Write out randomly. Keep writing till your head feels lighter. We need to find out what works best for us but we need to connect more with our deeper emotions and let go of any limiting ‘E’xperiences. ‘E’xperiences should not become an excuse for us to disconnect with our soul.

Let go, simplify and keep connecting.
